The head is not attached to the jacket and the hands are not plastic-they look like stuffed animal hands and are sewed onto the jacket upside down. The boots are thin and have a split in the back. I assume this is for ease in dressing the doll, but GI Joes boots are a whole shoe and go on no problem. It is a nice toy but unfortunately it does not function as smoothly as it does on the television ads. It is actually pretty tough to get the head on and off the prince. It is not a quick function- it is about a five minute process. It is impossible for a child and difficult for an adult. She *loves* it! I think the makers did a great job of engineering the beast part to go on and off; even the boots have a split in the back to make it easier. Her brother likes to play with it too.
